My 2013 Year in Review

Hello All!

I hope that you all had another great year in 2013. My year was...interesting. Lots of new and exciting things, some met goals, some...not so met (lol), but here's to an even better year in 2014. To a year of Health and Happiness for us all!

Anyway, I just wanted to share some of the things that made my 2013 interesting...and since this is a book blog, I'll also finish out the post with the list of books I read this year in case anyone wants to scroll through them all (I'm warning you, just like last year...it's A LOT of books and you may not want to take the time...).

Personal Things
*I started taking exercise classes and found out that I LOVE going to yoga.

*Visited my brother-in-law in Arizona. A much needed vacation!

*Changed up my hair. :)

*Finally found out why my foot was always hurting me...stupid arthritis in my toe.  (And yes, I'm only 32!) Crazy.  Had to adjust how I exercise, what shoes I wear... *sigh*

*Went to two weddings...In one weekend!!

*Wasn't able to make it out to Martha's Vineyard this year for our annual family vacation. A big bummer. It's my favorite place in the world!

*Got to celebrate my friend Becca squeezing in the birth of her newest, an adorable little girl named Winter, right before the end of the year!

*Declared 2014 will be the year of PIES :)

Work Things:
*Planned and executed some of the COOLEST tween programs this summer.  Movie parties, spy training...it was so much fun!

*Found out that our Library will finally be moving into a temporary location while they build our new Library! ...and had to start the preparation madness.

*Switched jobs and became the new Adult Services Supervisor at my Library!

Bookish/Blog Things:
*Finished out my commitment as co-chair for one of the Nutmeg Award reading committees in CT. After two years of reading a lot of really great books, but also feeling like I couldn't read anything *besides* those books, I can finally try to tackle my mountainous TBR list!

*I was a judge for Amazon's Breakthrough Novel Award for the fourth year.  This time in a new category!

*I attended BEA for the fifth year in a row, and attended the Children's Author Breakfast for the second year.

*I continued blogging for YALSA's the Hub.

*I took a break from my formal reviewing for SLJ, VOYA, and AudioFile to give myself a little break at the end of the year.

dates read

*Check out this cool graphic I was able to make on Shelfari! This is a bar graph of the number of books I've read each year since I started tracking on their site...

*I read 348 books this year (including picture books for story time, chapter books, middle grade, YA, and adult books)...you can check out the list if you want!

I've probably forgotten to mention some things...and that's okay. Every year packs so much in that it's hard to keep track. Anyway, here's to a great 2014!! See you in the New Year!!
